What is a Pinterest video saver, and what does SaverPin keep for you?
A Pinterest video saver turns a pin you like into a file that lives on your own device. SaverPin does that from a single box: give it the address of a public pin and it hands back the actual files Pinterest stores for that pin, as MP4, JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF, so you can save Pinterest videos and pictures without any app.
The part people notice first is the honesty of the result card. Before you tap anything, each option states its real width, height and weight, measured from the file and not guessed from a label. You decide what to save knowing exactly how much storage or mobile data it will cost.
Here is what happens in the second or so after you tap the button. Our server looks at the pin's public data, collects every file Pinterest lists for it, peeks at the opening bytes of each one to confirm its real type and size, and returns a signed link that expires one hour later. Nothing is kept on our side.
- A video pin or an idea pin is saved as an MP4 with its sound, at up to 720p.
- An image pin is saved as the original upload, not the shrunken preview shown in the feed.
- A GIF pin is saved as the moving
.gif, with a still frame next to it. - Any video can also be saved as sound only, in an .m4a file.
You never sign in, nothing is installed, and the page works in whatever browser you already have, on a phone, a tablet or a desktop. We put no watermark on what you save, and at launch the site shows no ads at all.
Why keep your own copy instead of just pinning it to a board?
The word “save” means two things on Pinterest. The red Save button files a pin on one of your boards, which is really a bookmark: the clip still lives on Pinterest, needs a connection to play, and vanishes if its creator deletes it or makes it private. A Pinterest video saver gives you a real file instead, one that stays in your downloads until you decide to remove it.
That difference matters in everyday situations. A bread recipe you want to follow in a kitchen with poor Wi-Fi, a ten-minute stretching routine for a hotel room, a knitting technique you plan to replay many times, a clip you want to watch on a flight: all of these are easier with the file already on the device.
When pinning to a board is the better choice
If you only want to find a pin again some day, a board is perfect and keeps traffic flowing to the person who made it. Reach for the saver when you need the file itself, for offline use or for your own private reference. If you mostly receive pins as links in chats, the Pinterest link downloader page is a good place to start, and the Pinterest saver page covers saving every kind of pin, not only videos.
How do you save Pinterest videos with SaverPin?
To save Pinterest videos here, you copy the pin's address, place it in the box above and tap Download. A card then lists every file the pin holds, each with its resolution and weight, and one tap saves the one you pick. The whole thing usually takes less time than finding the share menu.
First: copy the address of the pin
In the Pinterest app, open the pin, tap the share arrow and pick the entry that copies the link. On a computer, the pin's address is simply what sits in the address bar. Both the long pinterest.com form and the short pin.it form are accepted.
Second: paste it and tap Download
Use the Paste button or a long press on the field, then tap Download. On our local test runs, one pin was read in roughly 1.1 to 1.5 seconds; how fast it feels for you depends mainly on your own connection.
Third: choose the file you want to keep
Pick the size that suits where you are. On a metered mobile plan, the smaller idea pin copies keep data use low; at home on Wi-Fi, go for the biggest MP4. The file travels straight from Pinterest's servers to you through our short-lived link.
Saved a file more than an hour ago and the link no longer opens? Paste the pin again: the Pinterest video saver issues a fresh link every time.
What can you save from each kind of pin?
Pinterest stores a classic video pin, an idea pin, a still image, a GIF and a multi-slide carousel in different ways, so the result card changes with the pin. You always get one button per real file and never a placeholder for something that does not exist.
| Kind of pin | Files you can save | Measured example |
|---|---|---|
| Classic video pin | MP4 (H.264 picture, AAC sound), first-frame image, cover image | 13-second clip: MP4 576×1024, 3.3 MB |
| Idea pin (vertical short video) | MP4 at 720p, plus 486×864 and 360×640 MP4s, thumbnail, cover | 9.5-second clip: MP4 720×1280, 2.2 MB |
| Image pin | The original upload, in the format it was uploaded (JPG, PNG or WebP) | Original 1080×1521, 160 KB |
| GIF pin | Moving .gif plus a still JPG | GIF 396×223, 494 KB |
| Carousel pin | A separate item for each slide, 20 slides at most | 13 slides listed in about 1.8 s |
| Any video pin | Sound alone, as .m4a (not MP3) | 9.5-second idea pin: 80 KB |
Every type above goes through the same box, and each has a page of its own if you want the finer points: the image downloader, the GIF downloader, the idea pin and Reels-style downloader, the Pinterest to MP4 page and the thumbnail downloader.
Which Pinterest addresses does the saver understand?
The saver reads three kinds of address: a single pin, a pin.it short link and a public board. Pinterest's national domains are all treated alike, so a pin you found on pinterest.de, pinterest.fr or pinterest.co.uk is saved exactly as one from pinterest.com.
Addresses that work
| What you paste | Typical shape | Result |
|---|---|---|
| A pin | pinterest.com/pin/1234567890/ | All files of the pin are listed |
| A pin whose address includes its title | pinterest.com/pin/title-words--1234567890/ | Same result; only the number matters |
| A pin on a national domain | pinterest.de/pin/1234567890/ | Handled like pinterest.com |
| A short link | pin.it/AbCdE | Followed to its pin, or to its board |
| A public board | pinterest.com/user/board-name/ | Board mode: up to 50 pins shown |
Addresses it turns down
A profile, a profile tab or a board section cannot be read, and the tool tells you so in plain words instead of spinning forever. Private pins and secret boards are off limits too, since their data is not public. The private pins page explains why no honest tool can reach them.
How sharp is a video saved with the Pinterest video saver?
A video you save tops out at 720p, because that is the biggest MP4 Pinterest delivers for video pins. A Pinterest video saver can hand you the best file the source holds, but it cannot invent pixels that were never uploaded.
Idea pins expose a streaming playlist in their public data. In our checks, even a clip whose source was described as 1080×1920 had 720×1280 as its largest playlist level and as its largest MP4 file.
That playlist follows HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), a delivery method that cuts a video into short chunks at several quality steps. SaverPin locates the 720p MP4 that matches the top step, makes sure it really exists, and offers it along with two lighter copies from the same set.
Is there a 1080p or 4K version somewhere?
Not for any pin we tested. No 1080p or 4K MP4 was present, so none is offered, and we never relabel a 720p file as HD or 4K. When another site promises a 4K Pinterest download, it is fair to ask which file that would be.
Why are some stored copies left out?
Pinterest also keeps HEVC versions of some videos. We skip them on purpose: plenty of phones, browsers and older computers will not play HEVC, and a saved file that refuses to open is worse than one that is a little heavier. For the technical side, read the video quality explained guide and the HD video downloader page.
How much space will saved pins take on your device?
In our measurements, saved files ran from 0.4 MB for a 7-second clip up to 20.9 MB for a 90-second idea pin. Length weighs more than anything else, which is exactly why every button prints its size before you commit.
| Pin measured | File saved | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| 9.5-second idea pin | MP4 720×1280 / 486×864 / 360×640 | 2.2 MB / 1.3 MB / 0.9 MB |
| 90-second idea pin | MP4 720×1280 | 20.9 MB |
| 13-second classic video pin | MP4 576×1024 | 3.3 MB |
| 7-second classic video pin | MP4 720×1280 | 0.4 MB |
| Image pin | Original 1080×1521 | 160 KB |
| GIF pin | Moving GIF 128×128 | 1.49 MB |
| 90-second idea pin | Sound only (.m4a) | about 738 KB |
A quick rule of thumb from those numbers: a few dozen short clips fit comfortably in a single gigabyte, while long idea pins add up faster. If space is tight, the 360×640 copy of an idea pin weighs well under half of the 720p one and still looks fine on a phone screen.
Two results tend to surprise people. A tiny moving GIF can be heavier than a short MP4, because GIF is an old format that compresses poorly. And the sound of a clip on its own is light: about 80 KB for a 9.5-second idea pin.
How does a saved file compare with Pinterest's own option or a screen recording?
Pinterest offers a Download image entry in a pin's menu, yet its own help page frames it around images and says plainly that the steps do not fit every pin. The line from Pinterest's help article on downloading an image reads:
“Please note that not all Pins can be downloaded so these steps may not apply to all Pins.”
SaverPin covers the cases that menu leaves out: public video pins, idea pins, GIFs and carousels. For image pins it goes for the original upload, and for everything it shows the weight of each file before you save, which a menu entry does not do.
The usual fallback, a screenshot or a screen recording, costs you more than it seems. You lose the original resolution, you capture the clock and battery icons, and a screenshot of a video holds no sound whatsoever. A screen recording also re-encodes the picture a second time, so fine detail such as text in a recipe overlay gets softer.
Where does a saved Pinterest video end up on iPhone and iPad?
On Apple's mobile devices the saver runs in Safari or any other browser, and a file downloaded from the web is placed in the Downloads folder of the Files app. Apple's own page confirms it: find downloads on iPhone or iPad.
On an iPhone
Once the download ends, Safari's Downloads button beside the address field lists the new file; tap it to play. Later on, you can reach it again through Files › Browse › Downloads. The iPhone guide shows every screen, including how to move the MP4 into Photos.
On an iPad
The iPad works the same way, with Downloads sitting in the Files sidebar. The iPad guide follows the bigger layout. Saving other formats on Apple devices has its own pages: images on iPhone and GIFs on iPad.
Where does it end up on Android, Samsung and Xiaomi phones?
On Android, Chrome stores the file in the phone's default download location, and Google suggests the Files app for finding it. Inside Chrome you can also open More › Downloads, as described in Chrome's download help for Android.
On a Samsung Galaxy
Samsung's support states that downloaded files normally go to the Downloads folder of the My Files app. Our Samsung page walks through it tap by tap.
On Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO
According to Xiaomi's help page, browser downloads appear under File Manager › Download. The Xiaomi page has the details.
If you would rather see the clip in your gallery app, the save to gallery guide explains how, and the Android guide follows the whole route from pin to playback.
Where does it end up on Windows, Mac, Chromebook and Linux?
On a computer the steps do not change: paste, tap or click Download, choose a button. Your browser then writes the MP4 into its download folder, which you can view or change in its settings.
On Windows
The browser drops the MP4 into the folder named in its download settings and pops up its downloads list when it finishes. No codec pack or extra player is required to watch it. See the PC guide and the Windows page.
On a Mac
macOS browsers save to whatever folder they are set to, and the downloads list opens the file in one click. The Mac guide covers playback and where to look.
On a Chromebook or Linux
Chrome or any current browser behaves the same on ChromeOS and Linux, though each system has its own folder conventions. Read the Chromebook guide or the Linux page, and move anything you want to keep out of temporary folders.
Which device page matches your setup?
The saver is identical on every device; what changes is the folder where your system puts downloads. Use this table to find the first place to look, then open the matching page for the full walkthrough.
| Your device | Check here first | Step-by-step page |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone | Safari's Downloads button, or Files › Downloads | iPhone guide |
| iPad | Files › Browse › Downloads | iPad guide |
| Android with Chrome | The Files app, or Chrome › More › Downloads | Android guide |
| Samsung Galaxy | My Files › Downloads | Samsung page |
| Xiaomi | File Manager › Download | Xiaomi page |
| Windows PC | The browser's download folder | PC guide |
| Mac | The browser's download folder | Mac guide |
| Chromebook | Files app › Downloads | Chromebook guide |
Browser-specific pages exist as well, for Chrome and Safari. For a bird's-eye view, the all devices hub, the where saved files go hub and the save formats hub gather everything in one place.
Can you keep only the audio of a pin?
Yes. Tap the audio button and your own device lifts the AAC sound out of the MP4 into an .m4a file, bit for bit. There is no re-encoding and no upload, so what you save is exactly the sound the video carried.
The file is M4A, not MP3, and the button says so. Sound-only MP4 files take the .m4a ending by convention; the MP4 file format article notes that they “generally have a .m4a” extension. Most current music and video players open them without fuss.
- The card shows an estimated weight beforehand, for example “≈ 76 KB”.
- When a video has no sound track, you are told so rather than handed a silent file.
- In our tests the .m4a played in Microsoft Edge and reported the right length.
The Pinterest to MP3 (M4A) page goes further, and if a saved clip seems mute, start with Pinterest video with no sound. Device pages exist for audio too, such as audio on iPhone and audio on Android.
How do you save Pinterest images, GIFs, covers and carousel slides?
Exactly as you save a video: paste any public pin into the same box and the card shows what is inside. There is no need to hunt for the right tool page first, and if you do open a specialised page with the wrong kind of pin, it says so instead of failing quietly.
Still images at full size
Image pins are saved as the original upload, not the 736-pixel preview the feed shows. In one check, a pin displayed at 736 px wide had an original of 1365×1706. The file keeps the format it was uploaded in.
Moving GIFs
A GIF pin gives you the animated file plus a still JPG. Pinterest keeps no MP4 copy of GIF pins, so there is no GIF to MP4 option here; for real video pins, use the Pinterest to MP4 page.
Video covers and first frames
Every video pin also offers its first frame at full size, for example 1080×1920, and its cover picture, both as JPG. That is handy when you want a still for a mood board or a reference sheet.
Carousel slides
Each slide is listed on its own, with a ceiling of 20. Video slides come with an MP4, a thumbnail and a cover; picture slides with the original image.
Format-and-device pages go into each case: images on Android, images on PC, GIFs on iPhone, GIFs on Mac and Reels-style pins on Android.
How do you save pins from a whole board?
Paste the address of a public board and tap List pins. Up to 50 of its pins appear, each with a small preview and its own Get button, and the Get all, one by one option prepares them in a row so you do not have to tap fifty times.
There is no single ZIP for the board, and a board with more than 50 pins shows its first 50 only. Secret and private boards stay closed. Once listed, every pin behaves like a pin pasted on its own, with its true sizes shown. The Pinterest board downloader page has the complete walkthrough.
Does the saved video carry a watermark?
Not from us. SaverPin stamps no logo, text or mark on anything: you get the very MP4 Pinterest delivers. If a creator put their handle or logo into the picture when they edited the clip, that mark is part of the image and remains, and cutting it out would be unfair to them anyway.
The without watermark page explains the gap between a mark added by a download tool and one the creator chose to include.
What should you check when a pin will not save?
Most errors come from the address, not from the video. Make sure what you pasted is a pin, a pin.it link or a public board, rather than a profile or a search results page, and that the pin is still online and public.
- Open the address in a normal browser tab: if Pinterest shows an error page, the pin was deleted or made private.
- Copy the address again from the share menu, since a truncated paste is a frequent culprit.
- If more than an hour has passed since you tapped Download, paste the pin again to get a new signed link.
- On an iPhone, look in Files › Downloads before saving the same clip twice.
- If the MP4 has no sound, check whether the original pin had any to begin with.
The not working guide lists every message the tool can show and what to do about each.
Is it allowed to save Pinterest videos for yourself?
Most people use a Pinterest video saver to keep a public pin for their own private viewing, but the clip still belongs to whoever made it. Pinterest's Terms of Service state that people who post keep their rights, and its copyright policy sets the tone:
“Pinterest respects the intellectual property rights of others and we expect people on Pinterest to do the same.”
Re-uploading another person's video, putting it in an advert or selling it can break copyright law. In the United States, the Copyright Office notes that fair use is weighed case by case, so no percentage or clip length is automatically safe. If you are unsure, ask the creator and give them credit.
The is it legal guide sets this out in everyday language, and rights holders can reach us through the DMCA page.
What happens to your data when you use the saver?
Very little leaves your hands: a public address, nothing more. You never type a Pinterest password, no sign-up form exists, and we keep no copies of files. They stream from Pinterest's servers through a signed link that dies after one hour.
- No account, no login and no email address requested.
- No files stored by us; every link expires after 1 hour.
- Sound extraction happens on your own device, not on a server.
- No ads at launch, which also means no pop-ups and no fake download buttons.
SaverPin is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Pinterest, Inc. The privacy policy and the terms spell out the details, and you can write to us with any question.
Do you need an app or an extension to save Pinterest videos?
No, and none exists. SaverPin has no APK, no store listing, no browser add-on and no desktop program. It is a web page that runs in any modern browser, so it works the same on iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS, ChromeOS and Linux with nothing to install or update.
If you come across an APK or extension carrying the SaverPin name, it is not ours and we cannot say what it does. A bookmark, or a shortcut on your home screen, gives you the same Pinterest video saver one tap away. The downloader app page shows how to add that shortcut on each system.
Where does the Pinterest saver stop?
Knowing the edges in advance avoids wasted attempts. Here is what the saver does not do, checked against its code on 2026-10-24:
- Nothing private: no private pins, no secret boards, nothing behind a Pinterest login.
- No 1080p, 2K or 4K files; 720p is the ceiling for every pin we tested.
- No MP3 conversion; sound is saved as .m4a.
- No GIF to MP4 conversion, because Pinterest stores no MP4 for GIF pins.
- No board ZIP, no more than 50 pins per board and no whole-profile saving.
- No captions or subtitle files.
- No app, APK or browser extension.
If you need one of those things, the straightforward path is usually to ask the creator for the original file. Many are happy to share when asked politely.
Who gets the most out of a Pinterest video saver?
Anyone who wants a clip to work without a connection. A few typical cases show how the different files come in handy.
Home cooks
Recipe clips are the classic example. Saving the MP4 lets you pause and replay a step with floury hands, without the app reloading or the feed jumping to another pin. The first-frame image makes a neat preview in your own recipe folder.
Makers and crafters
Crochet, sewing, woodworking and drawing tutorials are watched many times over. A saved copy plays instantly from your downloads, and the original image of a pattern pin keeps fine lines readable when you zoom in.
People who train at home or on the road
Short workout and yoga routines are easy to follow from a phone propped on the floor. With the file saved beforehand, a weak hotel signal does not interrupt the session, and the smaller idea pin copies take little space.
Travellers and commuters
Before a flight or a long train ride, saving a handful of clips gives you something to watch offline. The weight on each button helps you stay inside your storage and data budget.
How can you keep your saved Pinterest files organised?
A download folder fills up quickly once you start to save Pinterest videos regularly. A few simple habits keep things findable later.
- Rename each MP4 right away with a short description, such as “lemon-tart-step-3.mp4”, so a search on your device finds it.
- Create one folder per theme (recipes, workouts, crafts) instead of leaving everything in Downloads.
- Keep a note of the pin address next to the file, so you can credit the creator or check for an updated version.
- On a phone, move clips you watch often into your gallery or Photos app; the device guides above explain how.
- Delete files you no longer need, especially long idea pins, which can weigh 20 MB or more.

Frequently asked questions
Does SaverPin cost anything?
No. The Pinterest video saver is free, with no account, no trial period and no paid plan.
Do I have to log in to Pinterest to save a video?
No. All the saver needs is the address of a public pin, and it never asks for your Pinterest password.
Is SaverPin run by Pinterest?
No. It is an independent tool with no link to Pinterest, Inc., and it only reads pins that are public.
What is the best resolution I can save?
720p for video pins and idea pins in our tests. No 1080p or 4K MP4 existed for any pin we checked, so none is offered.
Why are sizes shown before I save?
So you can judge the storage and data cost first. The numbers come from the files themselves, not from estimates.
Will a pin.it short link work?
Yes. The saver follows it to the pin, and if it points to a board it switches to board mode.
Can I save a pin from a private or secret board?
No. Private pins and secret boards are not public, so they cannot be read. See private pins.
Can I save Pinterest videos on an iPhone?
Yes, in Safari or any browser. The file goes to Files › Downloads. The iPhone guide shows each step.
Can I save Pinterest videos on an Android phone?
Yes. With Chrome, check More › Downloads or the Files app. See the Android guide.
Does the saver work on a laptop or desktop?
Yes, in any up-to-date browser on Windows, Mac, Chromebook or Linux. The MP4 goes to the browser's download folder.
Which video format do I get?
MP4 with H.264 picture and AAC sound, a combination nearly every phone and computer can play.
Can I turn a pin into an MP3?
Not MP3. You can save the sound as .m4a, copied without re-encoding. See Pinterest to MP3.
Why .m4a rather than MP3?
The sound inside Pinterest videos is AAC. Placing it in an .m4a keeps it untouched, while MP3 would require a lossy re-encode.
Can I save animated GIFs from Pinterest?
Yes. You get the original moving .gif plus a still JPG. Pinterest keeps no MP4 copy of GIF pins.
Are saved images full size?
Yes. Image pins are saved as the original upload instead of the 736-pixel preview. See the image downloader.
Can I save idea pins?
Yes. An idea pin gives a 720p MP4 and two lighter copies for mobile data. See the Reels-style downloader.
Can I save every pin on a board at once?
You can list up to 50 pins of a public board and save them one after another. There is no ZIP file.
Will my saved video have a SaverPin watermark?
No. You get the file Pinterest serves, and we add nothing to it.
Is there an app I should install?
No. SaverPin is a website only. There is no APK, store app or extension, and anything claiming otherwise is not ours.
Is the saver safe to use?
You only share a public address, we keep no files, and every link expires after one hour. There are no ads at launch.
Do you keep a copy of what I save?
No. Files stream from Pinterest's servers through a temporary link, and nothing is stored on our side.
How long can I use a download link?
For one hour. After that, paste the pin again and a fresh link is created.
Why did the saver show an error?
Usually the address is not a pin, the pin was removed, or the link has expired. See not working.
My saved video is silent. Why?
Some pins were uploaded without sound, and the tool tells you when there is no audio track. See no sound.
Can I save a carousel pin?
Yes. Each slide is listed as its own item, 20 slides at most.
Can I save the cover image of a video pin?
Yes. Video pins offer the first-frame image and the cover as JPG. See the thumbnail downloader.
May I repost a video I saved?
Not without the creator's permission. Saving for your own viewing is the usual use, but the creator keeps the rights. Read is it legal.
Do pins from pinterest.fr or pinterest.co.uk work?
Yes. Every Pinterest national domain is accepted, as long as the address leads to a pin or a public board.
Where do my saved files go?
To your browser's download folder. The where saved files go hub lists the location for each device.
How much storage does a saved video use?
It depends on length. In our tests a 7-second clip weighed 0.4 MB and a 90-second idea pin 20.9 MB at 720p.
Can I save a smaller copy to spare mobile data?
Yes, for idea pins. Besides the 720p MP4 you get 486×864 and 360×640 copies, which weighed 1.3 MB and 0.9 MB for a 9.5-second clip.
Is saving to a board the same as using the saver?
No. A board keeps a bookmark on Pinterest; the saver puts a real file on your device that plays offline.
